The role:

This role sits within the Epilepsy and Neurology Service at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, providing high‑quality, person‑centred care for people living with epilepsy. Working as part of an interdisciplinary clinical team, the post holder delivers specialist nursing support across assessment, treatment, monitoring and ongoing management. The role includes providing clinical advice, triage and timely interventions to support patients, families and carers, with a strong focus on safety, admission avoidance and improved outcomes. You will contribute to the delivery of coordinated care across hospital and community settings, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues and primary care. The post also supports service development and change, helping to enhance quality, effectiveness and patient experience across the epilepsy pathway.

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 16:00

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist nursing care for people with epilepsy as part of an interdisciplinary neurology team, ensuring safe, effective and person‑centred practice
  • Undertake clinical assessment, monitoring and review of patients, including pre‑treatment counselling, screening and evaluation of therapeutic response
  • Provide timely clinical advice, triage and intervention, including urgent consultations to support admission avoidance and improve patient outcomes
  • Act as a point of contact for patients, families, carers and professionals, offering expert guidance via telephone advice lines and clinical liaison
  • Work collaboratively with hospital clinicians, General Practitioners and community services to ensure coordinated care across the patient pathway
  • Contribute to service development and change, supporting quality improvement and the delivery of high‑quality epilepsy care across NHSGGC

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration, with significant post‑registration experience within a relevant clinical setting
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills to deliver safe and effective care for people with epilepsy, including the physical, technical and psychosocial aspects of care
  • Relevant experience working within a Neurology Service is desirable, with neurology experience considered advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously, exercising sound clinical judgement within a supportive specialist team
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience managing telephone advice lines, triage of incoming referrals and liaison with GPs and hospital clinicians
  • Confident IT and clinical documentation skills, with the ability to support service improvement and contribute to safe, effective and person‑centred
