Building Performance Consultant

Our Building Performance Consultancy partners with project design teams from early concept through to completion, ensuring design options are rigorously assessed and that data drives meaningful decisions. We offer expert guidance at every stage of the design and construction process, and are currently involved in a diverse range of exciting projects - from new-build schools to large-scale residential developments.,

  • Coordinate, and where required, conduct detailed building surveys for all forms of building typologies
  • Undertake Operational Energy Modelling (CIBSE TM54) on non-domestic buildings
  • Undertake Climate-Based Daylight Modelling (CBDM) on non-domestic buildings
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex building performance data to design teams and clients
  • Ability to align modelling outputs with project Sustainability Target and Objectives, via reports, trackers, and dashboards
  • Promote collaboration within the company and project design teams
  • Understand and support the delivery of client requirements and project briefs
  • Produce presentation material and lead design team workshops
  • Produce high-quality reports and communicate effectively
  • Support the growth and development of junior / graduate team members
  • Help to maintain and improve the technical knowledge of the team

    We are looking for a motivated, passionate individual to join the Carbon Futures team, delivering detailed building energy and environmental modelling across a varied project portfolio.   • The role demands strong working knowledge of IES VE and/or equivalent modelling tools. Across our projects, many of which carry ambitious sustainability briefs, you will undertake energy, overheating, indoor CO , and daylight modelling. On a number of schemes, this work directly supports the achievement of Net Zero targets and provides evidence against NZ frameworks such as the Net Zero Public Sector Building Standard (NZPSBS). If you're ready for a new challenge and want your work to have real impact, we'd love to hear from you., The role is ideally suited to an individual with experience delivering non-domestic projects in the capacity of a Building Performance Consultant or Building Physics Engineer at a Senior level, with a strong track record in operational energy analysis and dynamic thermal modelling. The preferred candidate will have excellent knowledge of the key factors that impact building energy performance; including fabric design, thermal bridging, ventilation, airtightness, overheating, heating and hot water solutions, and renewable technology. A strong command of operational energy and thermal modelling methodologies and regulatory documents, through the use of tools such as IES VE, is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to lead on modelling strategies, supporting project teams to optimise in-use building performance from early-stage concept through to post-occupancy evaluation. This includes interpreting modelling outputs to inform design recommendations, identifying opportunities to reduce energy demand and carbon emissions, and ensuring alignment with Net Zero Carbon targets and Scottish and UK Building Standards. The candidate should also have a very good understanding of Climate Change / Net Zero guidance produced by organisations such as AECB, LETI, CIBSE, Passivhaus Trust, RIBA and UKGBC.,
  • BSc degree in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience operating in the construction industry (non-domestic)
  • Level 5 Energy Assessor
  • Low Carbon Energy Assessor
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CIBSE, CIOB, RIBA, IStructE) - desirable but not mandatory., Experience within the construction sector on non-domestic projects, with a good understanding of:
  • Detailed construction drawings
  • Mechanical & electrical building services design
  • Low and zero carbon generating technologies
  • Energy and sustainability Building Standards in Scotland
  • CIBSE Guides and TMs
  • Net zero carbon frameworks including Net Zero Public Sector Building Standard (NZPSBS), and UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard (UKNZCBS)
  • Net zero carbon guidance such as RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge targets, LETI Climate Emergency Design Guide, and UKGBC Net Zero Carbon Buildings
  • Design For Performance Frameworks such as NABERS UK
  • Familiarity with scripting, coding and AI in relation to data management and modelling interoperability, Excellent IES VE skills
  • Excellent Rhino and Grasshopper skills
  • Excellent Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and communicate effectively
  • Ability to create detailed reports to a high standard
  • Fluent spoken and written English is essential, as is eligibility to work in the UK
  • Full UK Driving Licence
