Senior Warehouse Team Leader

Wholesale Domestic
Glasgow

Overview

As Senior Warehouse Team Leader at Wholesale Domestic, you’ll provide hands-on, visible leadership within our Glasgow warehouse. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you’ll act as their deputy when required, while working closely alongside teams on the warehouse floor to ensure smooth operations, high standards of safety, and outstanding team performance.

You’ll lead by example through your presence, behaviour, and approach, taking real ownership of people management, engagement, and team morale, while mentoring Team Leaders and driving continuous improvement across processes.

Main Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Operational Leadership & Delivery

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple teams, ensuring workload allocation meets business needs.
  • Support the Warehouse Manager in planning and prioritising tasks, stepping in during absences.
  • Ensure accurate stock management, order dispatch, and timely deliveries.
  • Resolve operational challenges and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence on the warehouse floor, leading shifts hands-on when required and supporting teams during busy or high-pressure periods.
  • Set and reinforce standards through your own behaviour, work ethic, and engagement with teams.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor KPIs and contribute to warehouse-wide performance goals.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Uphold health & safety standards and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day performance management, addressing issues promptly and constructively.
  • Recognise and reinforce positive performance and behaviours to improve engagement and morale.

 Team Development & Leadership

  • Coach and mentor Team Leaders, supporting their growth and succession planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture across all shifts.
  • Act as a role model for professionalism, accountability, and customer focus.
  • Take clear ownership of people leadership across the warehouse, supporting Team Leaders with engagement, wellbeing, attendance, and performance management.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with team members at all levels, creating an approachable and supportive leadership presence.
  • Proactively drive team morale and engagement, particularly during peak periods or times of change.

 Compliance & Safety Responsibilities

  • Act as a Fire Warden and First Aider, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and readiness to respond in emergencies, and maintaining training and certifications.
  • Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and training requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through daily leadership, visible commitment, and consistent reinforcement of safe behaviours.

Person Specification

As a Senior Warehouse Team Leader, you are expected to demonstrate advanced leadership and operational excellence every day. You should lead by example - through visibility, approachability, and consistent people leadership - while setting high standards for professionalism, accountability, and customer service, and supporting the development of Team Leaders and their teams.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to:

  • Empower and coach Team Leaders and their teams to achieve targets.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate across departments and shifts.
  • Take a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Uphold health and safety best practices and ensure compliance.
  • Demonstrate a customer-first mindset in all operations.
  • Show commitment to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Act as a role model for values-driven behaviour and leadership excellence.
  • Have a hands-on, people-focused leadership style with the confidence to motivate, challenge, and support teams day-to-day.
  • Be comfortable managing performance, attendance, and wellbeing conversations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Remain calm, visible, and supportive under pressure, maintaining morale and focus during busy periods.

Our Values, Your Actions

01. We Are Family You create a positive, supportive environment by really knowing your people and working well with other departments.

03. Learn & Be Curious You’re always looking for better ways to work and are open to feedback. You support Team Leaders and their teams to develop, share what you know, and keep building your own leadership skills.

04. Customer Obsession You put customers first in everything you do, from accurate picking and packing to reliable, on-time deliveries. When things don’t go to plan, you take ownership and sort issues quickly.
