Your new company
You'll be joining a modern, independent building consultancy that prides itself on delivering innovative solutions across building surveying, project management, and cost control. The firm has a strong reputation for simplifying complex property matters and providing clients with clear, practical advice. With a growing portfolio of heritage and conservation projects, this consultancy is committed to preserving historic buildings while embracing sustainable practices and modern technologies. Their collaborative approach ensures projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
Your new role
As a Building Surveyor with a heritage and conservation focus, you'll work on a diverse range of projects, with approximately 60% of your workload dedicated to historic and listed buildings. The remaining 40% will involve general building surveying duties, giving you a well-rounded experience while you progress toward a specialist conservation career path.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting condition surveys, defect analysis, and preparing conservation management plans
  • Advising on repair and maintenance of traditional and historic buildings, including sourcing specialist materials
  • Preparing and submitting Listed Building Consent applications and liaising with planning authorities
  • Managing refurbishment and adaptation projects for heritage properties, ensuring compliance with RICS and conservation standards
  • Undertaking general building surveying tasks such as dilapidations, schedules of condition, and contract administration
  • Working closely with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver tailored solutions that respect historical integrity while meeting modern requirements

This role offers a clear progression route toward 100% heritage and conservation work, supported by structured training and mentorship.
What you'll need to succeed

  • A degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline
  • Strong interest in heritage and conservation, ideally with some practical experience or RICS Historic Building Professional certification (desirable)
  • Excellent technical knowledge of building pathology and traditional construction methods
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to manage projects and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Working toward MRICS or recently chartered status
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site inspections

    What you'll get in return

  • A unique opportunity to specialise in heritage and conservation, with a clear pathway to becoming a sector expert
  • Exposure to prestigious projects, including listed buildings and culturally significant sites
  • Full support for APC and CPD, including conservation-focused training
  • A flexible, modern working environment with hybrid options
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The chance to join a consultancy that values innovation, sustainability, and client care
