System Performance Analyst

As System Performance Analyst, you'll be the owner of the Transmission and Distribution regulatory framework applications & reports that represent the company in submission of IIS data to Ofgem and subsequent external auditing process. You'll ensure that data submitted meets Regulatory requirements and provide accurate internal reporting of IIS positions and projected outcomes. What you'll be doing

  • Ownership of the Distribution 'Prosper universe' ensuring that integrity of the data contained is not compromised.
  • Ownership of the Transmission 'Prosper universe' ensuring that integrity of the data contained is not compromised.
  • Creation and maintenance of analytical models for the projection of company IIS position
  • Develop and maintain intranet based Prosper reports and any requested amendments. Responsible for testing and implementing any changes requested or for errors found. Liaising with Microstrategy/CofE/IT e.g. new reports, changes to schedule etc.
  • Engage with relevant business owners to ensure interaction of systems (PowerOn Advantage, GIS, and successors) does not compromise data quality or Regulatory compliance
  • Collation and preparation of system performance data prior to submission to Ofgem
  • Ensure submission is of an acceptable quality and optimises outcome
  • Submit data to Ofgem on behalf of the licensee and deal with any follow up questions
  • Participate in Ofgem audit of submitted system performance data, preparing audit material in advance and overseeing and agreeing any changes proposed by the auditors
  • Provision of high quality management information on system performance key metrics
  • Develop and maintain fault report guidance documentation
  • Support Energy Networks emergency planning and recovery process, actively respond within an emergency undertaking an emergency role
  • Assess quality of fault reports and amend where necessary. Owner of processes used to analyse storm data and complete Ofgem statement of facts. Responsible for providing Business Objects and spreadsheets used to determine and maximise storm claim
  • Develop and implement appropriate processes and checks to spearhead continuous improvement of recorded system performance information
  • Implement a strict vetting process to highlight areas for potential audit failure and highlight shortcomings to appropriate line managment
  • Carry out ad-hoc queries against the prosper database and analysis of data to support projects \ business changes across Energy Networks. Responsible for profiling Ofgem targets using the process and applying to MicroStrategy reports, spreadsheets and other databases.
  • Collate and submit annual NAFIR's fault data to the ENA
  • Validate and approve data returns from OFGEM and ENA.
  • Production of daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual system performance information. Responsible for providing all MicroStrategy and Spreadsheets to produce all "standard" business reports e.g. Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Year End, including procedures used to complete external data submissions (Ofgem and ENA).
  • Responsible for progressing delivery of external data. Responsible for ensuring missed PowerOn transfers are rerun. Responsible for monitoring provision of HVCI data, identifying gaps in the process and for escalating where necessary. Responsible for chasing up Short Interruptions Data, Nafirs fixed data and for escalating where necessary.
  • Responsible for identifying possible effects of changes to both direct and indirect source systems and highlighting where possible problem areas. Awareness of changes to all IT systems which eventually result in data either populating the Prosper data base or affecting its accuracy and intervening where necessary
  • Influence discussions with Regulator regarding changes to IIS data requirements

    Excellent analytical & numeracy skills
  • General Programming techniques and understanding of SQL, Understanding of general database terms and structure
  • Highly developed ability to manage and draw meaningful information from large volumes of data
  • Outstanding analytical ability, with a proven track record of discerning key factors and route causes from large amounts of information
  • Expert knowledge of prosper application or similar
  • Skilled user of MS Office products and Business Objects
  • Understanding of how IT systems operate and interact (e.g. PowerOn, Prosper etc) and the impact this could have on data
  • Clear business focus and ability to understand linkages between business processes / results and key business outputs
  • Firm understanding of management of database applications and relevant terminology
  • Working knowledge of key principles of Regulation
  • Ability to understand and accurately interpret Regulatory documentation e.g.Ofgem Quality Of Supply Regulatory Instructions and Guidance (RIG's)
  • Understanding of National Fault And Interruption Reporting Scheme (NAFIRS)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Guaranteed Standards of Service
