Estimator

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Estimator to join a civil engineering and road surfacing contractor with a long & successful history.

You ll be a key member of the commercial team, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager and taking ownership of tenders for a range of projects across both the public and private sectors.

The role involves;

• Preparing cost estimates and quotations for public contract tenders and private clients in line with pricing strategies, tender documentation and relevant specifications/legislation
• Drafting responses to technical and quality questions, including method statements and risk assessments
• Producing take-offs from drawings and compiling BOQs/Activity Schedules where required
• Gathering and reviewing subcontract and material quotations to support accurate cost build-ups
• Managing and prioritising your workload to ensure all tender and contractual deadlines are met
• Producing detailed handover documentation, including cost allowances and project information, to ensure a smooth transition from bid to operations
• Following up on submitted tenders to obtain feedback and drive continuous improvement in future bids

What we re looking for here;

• Some previous experience as an Estimator on road surfacing and civil engineering projects
• Strong understanding of cost control and construction contracts, particularly NEC
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
• Confident communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Strong time management and planning skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Full, valid UK driving licence
