Your responsibilities as a R&D Assistant Manager
As an Assistant Manager, you will work with a diverse portfolio of high-profile clients across the Financial Services sector. Collaborating closely with clients’ finance, tax, and IT teams, you’ll be involved in preparing R&D claims, ensuring compliance with tax legislation, and supporting projects relating to cash grants and patent box applications. You will have the opportunity to take a leading role in client interactions, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, while also contributing to business development by managing existing client accounts and supporting new opportunities. You will also play a key role in the efficient delivery of R&D tax claims and multidisciplinary projects, with clear opportunities for career progression in a leading Incentives and R&D practice.
Requirements
You’ll be a strong team player who integrates quickly into new teams, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships. With solid technical expertise and commercial awareness, you’ll be confident identifying risks, providing pragmatic solutions, and managing client expectations effectively at all levels.
To qualify, you must be a fully qualified ACA, CA, ACCA, ATT, or CTA with a minimum of three years’ experience in an R&D tax or broader Corporation Tax role. Strong Excel skills are essential, including XLOOKUP, IF functions, pivot tables, and the ability to work with complex datasets. Excellent writing, communication, and project management skills are also required. Ideally, you’ll have proven project management capabilities to plan, prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage budgets. Above all, we are looking for someone who is outgoing, collaborative, and passionate about delivering high-quality results for clients.
