ScotRail is looking for skilled engineers to join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of Scottish rail travel. Our four Maintenance Depots and In-Service Fleet Engineering (ISFE) team, strategically located across Scotland, are responsible for maintaining a diverse fleet of both diesel & electric trains to ensure they remain fully operational and provide a reliable service for our customers. As key part of the engineering maintenance team, you will be responsible to the Maintenance Team Leader at the Depot, for the maintenance, fault finding and repair of ScotRail vehicles to the prescribed standards. This post involves working directly on Traction & Rolling Stock vehicles safety critical systems. This will require working consistently to prescribed mechanical and electrical engineering standards with the ability to meet deadlines. What You Bring… To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate you have: * Completed a recognised Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6 or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related vocational field where the skills, knowledge, and experience are directly transferable to the requirements of this role. (Please note - the vocational qualification associated with the Modern Apprenticeship must be at SVQ/NVQ Level 3.)* Experience of working in a fast-paced production or operational engineering environment. * Understanding of interpreting electrical and/or mechanical diagrams. * Understanding of fundamental electrical and/or mechanical principles. * Experience of using a variety of electrical and/or mechanical testing equipment. * Experienced in updating maintenance documentation including technical report writing. * The ability to read and interpret procedures and utilise logical fault-finding techniques A full UK driving license and access to your own transport are desirable due to the nature of our shift patterns. Hours of work: 35-hour week. The post involves working Monday – Friday dayshift. Reference Salary: £45,799 per annum on completion of training, training salary £40,898 per annum.
