The University of Strathclyde is seeking a Group Financial Accountant who will play a crucial role in the financial management of the University, in line with its overall strategy.
The Finance Directorate is responsible for over £430 million of income and expenditure annually, represented by in excess of 150,000 transactions annually, with around 7,500 staff and students having access to our Finance systems to initiate, review and approve financial transactions and reports.
A part qualified accountant, you will have experience in a financial accounting or audit role in a large complex organisation and, preferably will also have experience a treasury role. Reporting to the Head of Group Financial Accounting, playing a key role in the provision of financial information, you will be comfortable with technical accounting requirements and will be able to adapt to changes in regulatory requirements. You will have a key role in financial reporting matters, including monthly management, annual and statutory accounts, and will be supporting the treasury management within the University.
You should be educated to degree level studying towards a professional qualification of a recognised accounting professional body (CCAB). A financial management and accounting background in a large organisation is essential. Enthusiasm, commitment, and strong collaborative interpersonal skills coupled with a high level of problem-solving will make the role a success.
