Registered Veterinary Nurse

Condorrat Veterinary Surgery is an independent 2-vet small animal practice in Cumbernauld that has been providing veterinary care to the local community for over 35 years.

We are a practice that really values our nurses, and as Elisa, our practice owner and head vet, says, “The nurses are the stars of the show here. I really rely on them, and I’d be lost without them.”

We are an RCVS nurse training practice, and many of our nurses have started their careers here and trained with us. We’re a close-knit team who enjoy supporting each other and having a laugh during our workday. We get to use all our nursing skills from inpatient care and anaesthesia to running an extensive range of nurse clinics. We will always encourage you to follow your interests, and if you’re looking to take on a certificate, we will absolutely support this or further training in your area of interest. 

Our Nursing Team

Rachael joined us as a student in 2012 and has been with us ever since, taking on the role of Head Nurse and is now our wonderful Practice Manager. She says that, “Condorrat has a small family-friendly vibe to it. Clients come back again and again. Colleagues have a great working relationship, and the banter is great!”

Rachel (yes, it can get confusing!), who also started with us as a student, is now a qualified RVN and supports us full-time in practice.

Hannah joined us in 2016 as an SVN and, after qualifying, worked her way up to deputy head nurse. She says, "Being an independent practice means we can focus on what really matters- our patients, our clients and supporting each other as a team".

The Rota

Our full-time nurses work a 5-day week with an equal share of early (8 am – 4 pm) and late (11 am – 7 pm) shifts. Our Saturday rota is currently only 1:4 mornings (8.30 am-1 pm).

We are flexible with the rota, so whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time hours, we would be happy to chat about a rota that works for you and around any other commitments you may have. There are no Sundays or out-of-hours, as this is outsourced to GUVS, who also look after our inpatients, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy life outside of work. We also don’t schedule any consults between 12.30 pm and 3 pm, which means you’ll always have time for a proper lunch break.

We really do love to laugh and throw notoriously fun get-togethers, whether catching up at work with a McDonald’s lunch or a proper night out. We’ve had some amazing parties over the years, including murder mystery nights, renting out a lodge with a hot tub, a recent trip to the Bowfield Hotel and Spa for Christmas, and a trip to the Shanghai Shuffle. What a laugh!

Condorrat, a former village in rural North Lanarkshire, is now a suburb of the up-and-coming town of Cumbernauld, on the outskirts of Glasgow. There are many beautiful green spaces to explore, including nearby Palacerigg Country Park with nature trails and a tree-top walkway.
