NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is fixed regular hours.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Radiologist to join our dynamic teams of 135 Consultant Radiologists in NHSGGC based in the North, South or Clyde sectors or at the Royal Hospital for Children.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest National Health Service provider in Scotland with an annual operating budget of just over £3 billion. The Diagnostic Imaging directorate undertakes over a million imaging exams & procedures per year and supports numerous regional and national specialist clinical services, not available elsewhere in Scotland.
A £1billion acute modernization programme has been undertaken which included the opening in spring 2015 of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Royal Hospital for Children. NHS GG&C has invested £15 million in new facilities and equipment, specifically in the areas of CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Digital Mammography, PET CT / SPECT CT, Angiography and General Digital Imaging.
Recent investments provide dual energy CT, single heartbeat cardiac CT and enhanced cardiac MRI provision. Radiologists are supported by a pan NHSGGC RIS, national PACS and thin client specialist reporting support including AI reporting tools.
Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, a licence to practice and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Clinical Radiology or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of Interview. In addition, candidates much be able to demonstrate higher level of training and practice in radiology appropriate to a consultant role within a tertiary\national centre. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
The job is advertised as a full-time position. There may be a requirement for the successful candidate to take part in a sector-based weekend & on-call rota. A subspecialist area of practice within radiology is expected as part of the broader role.
