Job Advert

Information Analyst

About the Organisation:

Public Health Scotland launched 1st April 2020 as a national health board, employing around 1200 people, and with an annual budget of around £101 million. Public Health Scotland wants to see a Scotland where everybody thrives, a Scotland where life expectancy improves and the difference in life expectancy between our poorest and wealthiest areas gets smaller. To do this, we use data, intelligence and a place-based approach to lead and deliver Scotland’s public health priorities.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do:

Public Health Scotland encourages applications from people from all backgrounds and aim to have a workforce that represents the population of Scotland that we serve. We champion diversity, inclusion and wellbeing and aim to create a workplace where everyone feels valued. Public Health Scotland is an equal opportunities employer who guarantees to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for our vacancies.

The Post:
Are you curious about data and motivated by the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives? If so, this role offers the chance to use your analytical skills for meaningful public benefit.

As an Information Analyst, you will play a key role in using data to address Scotland’s public health challenges and support informed decision‑making across the health and care system. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders and contribute to insights that help shape policy, improve services and reduce health inequalities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analysing and interpreting complex datasets to generate meaningful insight
  • Applying analytical tools and techniques to support evidence‑based decision‑making
  • Presenting complex information clearly using effective data visualisation methods
  • Communicating insights in a customer‑focused and accessible way
  • Producing and presenting statistical information for a wide audience, including NHS Boards, the Scottish Government, partner organisations and the general public
