Senior Vet Surgeon / Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery - Glasgow

Salary: £59,966–£67,468 per annum (plus generous veterinary supplement, OOH stipend, and employer pension)

Contract: Full-time, open-ended (part-time considered)

You’ll play a key role in leading a specialist surgical service, mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals, and driving innovation in clinical research and education.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and deliver high-quality small animal surgery services across a dynamic and well-equipped veterinary hospital.
• Support and supervise undergraduates, interns, and residents, helping shape the future of the profession.
• Contribute to the growth of clinical scholarship and surgical research, publishing work of international standard.
• Provide expert advice to referring vets and clients, ensuring exceptional standards of patient care.
• Take an active role in clinical leadership, strategic planning, and service development.
• Participate in the out-of-hours rota to support complex surgical cases when needed.

About You

• MRCVS-qualified (or eligible for registration).
• Postgraduate qualification in small animal surgery (e.g. ECVS, ACVS, FANZCVS or RCVS Diploma).
• Proven track record in clinical research, teaching, and advanced small animal surgery.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues and students.
• Experience working within a university or referral hospital environment would be advantageous.
• For appointment at a professorial level, you will also demonstrate a national or international reputation for research excellence and leadership within the field of small animal surgery.
