Credit Decisions Analyst
Reporting to the Credit Decisions Team Leader, this role is responsible for reviewing and assessing motor finance applications, analysing credit reference data, and making informed lending decisions in line with company policy and risk appetite. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring responsible lending by evaluating affordability and identifying potential fraud risks, while delivering excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.
This position offers the opportunity to develop strong underwriting and analytical skills within a supportive team environment, with ongoing training and professional development provided.
Hours: 35 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday.
Working on a rotational shift basis within operating hours:
Monday – Friday: 8am – 8pm
Saturday – Sunday: 9am – 6pm
(Flexibility required as shifts rotate across these hours)
Salary: £27,500
Key Responsibilities
• Review, analyse and assess motor finance applications using credit reference data and other relevant tools to make informed lending decisions.
• Ensure all credit decisions are made in line with company policies, procedures and delegated authority levels.
• Conduct required checks including affordability assessments, customer trace checks, credit behaviour analysis, and vehicle criteria validation.
• Utilise industry tools and databases such as credit reference agencies, vehicle valuation guides and fraud prevention systems.
• Record detailed notes on each assessed application and document any conditions applied to lending decisions.
• Remain vigilant to indicators of fraud, financial crime or suspicious activity and escalate concerns in line with internal policies.
• Provide professional, accurate and efficient service to dealers, brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to team service levels by managing application volumes efficiently and effectively.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of credit policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in training and actively contribute to continuous improvement within the Credit Decisions team.
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience within underwriting, credit analysis, or financial services is desirable.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret financial and credit data.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
