Legal Cashier Team Lead
Location: Glasgow/Edinburgh (Hybrid)

Our client is a well-established and reputable law firm based in Glasgow/Edinburgh, offering a broad range of legal services to individuals, businesses, and institutions. We are seeking a highly experienced Deputy Legal Cashier to join their finance team. This is a key role supporting the smooth operation of the cashiering function, ensuring full compliance with Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules, and deputising for the Senior/Head Legal Cashier when required Key Responsibilities:
Deputise for the Senior/Head Legal Cashier during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of service, oversight, and compliance.
Provide guidance, support, and informal supervision to junior cashiering staff.
Assist with workload allocation and prioritisation within the cashiering team to ensure efficiency and deadlines are met.
Review and sign off transactions where appropriate, ensuring adherence to internal controls and procedures.
Support the training and onboarding of new team members within the cashiering function.
Escalate any compliance issues, risks, or discrepancies to senior management in a timely and appropriate manner.
Support the day-to-day operations of the legal cashiering function, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure full compliance with the Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules and internal policies.
Process and oversee client and office account transactions including receipts, payments, bank reconciliations, and transfers.
Monitor client ledgers and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Act as a key point of contact for fee earners and support staff on financial queries, billing processes, and account-related matters.
Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns, bank reconciliations, and other financial reports.
Support the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors as required.
Help oversee the firm’s bank accounts and maintain relationships with financial institutions.
Contribute to financial risk management, compliance monitoring, and internal audit processes.
Identify and implement improvements in cashiering processes and systems.Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience in legal cashiering, ideally within a law firm environment.
Strong working knowledge of the Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and step into a leadership/deputising role when required.
Proficiency in legal accounting software.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
