Jordanhill School is an exciting place to work. We are an all-through school educating children from Primary 1 to Secondary 6 and we are renowned not just for academic excellence, but for helping children experience a rounded education involving sports, music, drama and art. Underpinning our work is a commitment to our vision, values and aims.

Teaching facilities and resources are excellent. The English department is housed on the top floor of the original Jordanhill School building (The North Campus) adjacent to our beautiful school library. The library is used extensively by the department and others, with timetabled lessons in both Primary and Secondary. The library is very popular with pupils at lunchtime and after-school.

The department has 5 teachers led by the Principal Teacher.

The courses currently offered by the department are:

* Primary 7 English

* S1-S2 English

* S3-4 National 4 and 5 English

* S5-S6 National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher English

* S5-S6 General Interest course

Initiatives such as World Book Day and the Reading Schools Award are well established in Jordanhill School. We are fortunate to benefit from an in-school librarian who works closely with the English department to support teachers and enhance lessons.

As the promoted staff member responsible for Literacy at Jordanhill School, you will lead the English department and play a key role in the development of Literacy across the school. You will work with us to develop our pupils’ Literacy skills from Primary 1 to S6. This presents a unique opportunity to work with colleagues across the school to ensure that Literacy continues to improve and our pupils thrive.
